After the price adjustment, the price of 19 kg commercial cylinder in Kolkata has been fixed at Rs 1,752.50.
However, there has been no change in the price of LPG cylinders used for domestic use.
The price of commercial LPG in India has been fluctuating continuously for the last few months.
On July 1, the price of 19 kg commercial cylinder was reduced by Rs 185.50. Earlier, the price was increased by Rs 195.50 in April and Rs 11 in January. The price of domestic LPG was increased by Rs 20 in June and Rs 50 in March.
Although the price of commercial LPG in India has decreased, it does not have an immediate impact on the Nepali market.
The price of cooking gas in Nepal is determined not by the retail price in the Indian market but by the monthly purchase price that the Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) receives from the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC).

According to the corporation, although the loss per cylinder of LP gas is gradually decreasing, the price adjustment is based on the financial condition of the overall petroleum business and the new price list received from IOC. The cost of hotels, restaurants, catering and small businesses is expected to come down as commercial LPG is cheaper in India.
It is estimated that the loss burden on the NOC may be reduced in the coming months if the price of LPG continues to fall in the international market due to the increase in commercial gas consumption along with the expansion of tourism and service sector in Nepal.
