. The Department of Inland Revenue (IRD) has urged consumers to participate in the Taxpayer Incentive Gift Program.
Issuing a notice on Saturday, the department has asked consumers who have made cash transactions to register their original bill. According to Janak Raj Sharma, deputy director general and joint secretary of the department, Rs 1,
000 has been collected since July 17. Consumers who have purchased more than Rs 100 worth of goods or services in cash and have taken original PAN and VAT bill can participate in the taxpayer incentive program.
“We have launched a new website called prize. ird. gov. np from Saturday,” said Sharma.

The department has drawn the attention of all consumers to keep the bills safe as the original bill becomes mandatory after the announcement of gifts. The department has also urged consumers to ask for the original VAT and PAN bill of their purchase and to inform the department if they do not receive the bill. The department is preparing to publish the results of the first 15 days of the taxpayer incentive program implemented from July 17 next week.
‘Technically, we are ready. If there is no major technical problem, we will be able to announce the results of the first 15 days (15 winners at the rate of Rs 1 lakh per day and 1 lakh winner of 15 days bumper Rs 1 million) next week,” the department said.
In the budget for the fiscal year
2083÷84, Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle had announced to launch a taxpayer incentive gift program to bring taxpayers into the tax system and to develop a culture of bill taking.
According to the same announcement, the Ministry had approved the Gift Operation Procedure in the last week of June. According to the procedure, one consumer will be paid tax every day and Rs. Rs. 100,000 cash prize and Rs. 100,000 as a bumper gift every 15 days (to two people a month). A cash prize of Rs 10 lakh will be provided.
