Chairman Oli urges to take the legacy of farmers’ movement started by Tulsilal and Bhimdat to a new height

Kathmandu.

CPN-UML Chairman and former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has urged the government to carry forward the legacy of peasants’ movement propelled by Tulsilal Amatya and martyr Bhim Dutta Panta. 

Issuing a condolence message on the occasion of the memorial day of Amatya and Panta today, Oli made this request. KATHMANDU: Chairman Oli has remembered the significant contribution of Tulsi Lal Amatya, who was elected from the third general convention of the Communist Party of Nepal (CPN), to strengthen the peasant movement ideologically and organizationally.

“During the time of feudal land ownership, Amatya had inspired the farmers to unite for their rights and entitlements with the slogan ‘Whose land, his ship’,” Oli said. “The role played by Amatya in the struggle against autocracy and the leftist movement will always be remembered in the Nepali political history,” PM Oli said.

The message remembers the immortal martyr Bhim Dutta Pant as a fearless and revolutionary fighter in the struggle against feudal exploitation. Pant has led the movement in favor of the oppressed farmers against the Haliya and Kamaiya system in the Far-West with the slogan “Either plough the land, or leave the place, or no more.”

“The incident of Panta being shot dead on July 31, 2010 and demonstration beheaded by beheading to suppress farmers’ movement is remembered as a very sad chapter in the history of Nepali peasant movement,” he said. Stating that the sacrifice, dedication and revolutionary ideology of both the leaders is the source of inspiration for the Nepali society, Oli said that the true tribute to them would be to protect the democratic system, achieve the goals of social justice, equality and economic prosperity.

Paying rich tributes to the martyr Bhim Dutta Pant and leader Tulsi Lal Amatya, the Prime Minister said that their contribution would always be remembered in the history of Nepali political and peasant movement.
