Industry Minister Gauri Yadav directs strict ban on counterfeit products

. Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies Gauri Yadav has directed the Department of Commerce, Supplies and Consumer Protection to stop the sale and distribution of counterfeit products in the market.

Following Minister Yadav’s directive, the department has intensified market monitoring and seized more than

one hundred suspicious fake products. Currently, these products are being tested in the laboratory for their quality and originality, according to the Department.

Stating that any kind of carelessness in the sale and distribution of fake products would not be tolerated as it is a matter directly related to the health and rights of consumers, Minister Yadav directed the department to make market monitoring more effective.

She also directed them to take stern action as per the law if found guilty.

Sapkota, director general of the Department of Commerce, Supplies and Consumer Protection, said that the department has been regularly monitoring the market as it has been received that some fake products are still being sold in the market. 

According to him, the seized products are being tested in laboratories.

Necessary legal process will be initiated against the related products on the basis of the test report. The department has also urged the consumers to inform the concerned body if they see suspicious or fake products.

Minister Yadav said that the government was committed to making the market clean, safe and systematic, adding that action would be taken against those playing with the health of consumers and selling and distributing fake products in the market.
