. KATHMANDU: Youth leaders of the Nepali Congress (NC) have launched a campaign to unite the party which is on the verge of split. The leaders gathered at Baneshwor in Kathmandu on Sunday to launch a campaign to unite the country and the Nepali Congress.
The campaign has been launched with the slogan ‘NC for the nation, unity for NC’.
On the occasion, former NSU President Nain Singh Mahar said the party was weakening due to long-standing differences, mistrust and internal squabbles. Stating that the Nepali Congress was going through a serious test of party unity, he said democracy could not be strengthened without unity.
‘The long-standing differences in the party, mistrust and internal strife have weakened the organization. Today, the party is going through a serious test of unity,” he said, adding, “Nepal’s political history has proved one truth time and again: when Nepali Congress is weak, democracy becomes weak.” When the Congress is divided, there is an environment where regressive forces dominate the democratic forces and national interest. According to him, the unity of the Nepali Congress is not a matter of partisan interest but a national responsibility related to the protection of democracy and stability of the nation.
“Therefore, the unity of the NC is not a matter of partisan interest, it is a national responsibility related to the protection of democracy and stability of the nation,” he said, adding, “Unfortunately, the country is going through many challenges at present.”
The communal tension that started from Sunsari has spread to various districts of Madhes, leading to the loss of lives of Nepali citizens, loss of valuable property and hurting the harmony of Nepali society. He also said that economic recession, unemployment, increasing migration of youths, crisis of good governance and livelihood problems are becoming serious day by day. Similarly, another leader Ranjit Karna said that the party should not be divided in the face of uncomfortable situation in the country.
“There is a need to unite the Congress at a time when the general public is crying. If the Congress is weak internally and divided, the country will be weak. In such a situation, the Congress must be united. In the program ‘
