. Nepal Olympic Museum, the only sports museum in Nepal and the first and only Olympic museum in South Asia, is going to organize Nepal’s first sports exhibition on the occasion of its 33rd anniversary.
The exhibition titled ‘Beyond Medals: Preserving Nepal’s Sports History’ will be held at Nepal Art Council in Babarmahal, Kathmandu from August 2 to 21. The museum is going to pay tribute to the contribution of its founder, senior sports journalist late Kshitij Arun Shrestha and South Asian Games taekwondo medalist Manju Tuladhar. According to the organizers, the exhibition will showcase Nepal’s rich sports history, athletes’ contributions, achievements and Olympic journey in one place.
Minister for Education and Sports Sasmit Pokharel is scheduled to inaugurate the event.
The three-day exhibition will feature medals, trophies, jerseys, sports equipment and other historical sports memorabilia.
National and international level athletes, coaches, sports administrators and sports fans will also participate in the event.
The organizers believe that the exhibition will provide an opportunity for students, researchers, sports personalities and the general public to learn and study Nepal’s sports history. President of Nepal Olympic Museum, Sanshi Shrestha, said that the role of the media was important to disseminate the glorious history of sports among the general public, sports lovers and students.
