Accusations that the government is illiberal towards the farmers
Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: Nepali Communist Party leader Rajendra Pandey has said that he would continue to engage in revolution so that the sacrifices of Bhim Dutta Panta would not go in vain.
Speaking at a program organized by the All Nepal Farmers’ Federation at Sambad Dabali in Kathmandu on Sunday, the speakers accused the incumbent government of being illiberal towards the farmers. On the occasion of the 35th Farmers’ Martyrs Day and the 73rd Bhim Dutta Pant Memorial Day, CPN Central Coordination Committee member Rajendra Pandey said that martyr Bhimdutta Pant was a warrior of the Nepali peasants’ movement. Pandey said that he attained martyrdom while fighting for the cause of farmers and poor laborers and his party would protect Panta’s sacrifice. Pandey, who is also the former Chief Minister of Bagmati Province, quoted Mao Tse-tung’s statement that ‘the death of those who serve the country and the people is heavier than the mountains’. Pandey claimed that the movie ‘Bhim Dutta Pant’ based on the life of martyr Bhim Dutta Panta would help to make Panta alive among the new generation.
He also thanked producer Nawal Khadka for making the movie.
Nawal Khadka, the actor and producer of the movie ‘Bhim Dutta Pant’, said that Bhim Dutta Pant is the real hero of Nepal’s farmers and proletariat.
He also accused the incumbent government of trying to undermine the contribution of great martyrs like Panta.
The incumbent Prime Minister Balendra Sah expressed anger saying that Nepal has also encroached on India’s border, saying that it has created a sense of rebellion among every patriot.
“We will not give a single piece of land to foreigners, I challenge Balen – your anti-national steps and thoughts should not be made ashy,” Khadka said.
Chitra Bahadur Shrestha, coordinator of All Nepal Peasants’ Federation, said that Bhim Dutta Pant was a leading fighter of the Nepali peasants’ movement. Joint Coordinator of FNCCI Ram Kumar Gyawali said Pant was the source of inspiration for the Nepali peasants’ movement. Federation leader Nahendra Khadka said that the contribution and sacrifice of Bhim Dutta Pant should not be forgotten by every farmer and oppressed class.
He also said that they are trying to follow Panta’s path and will continue to do so.
On the occasion, actor and producer Nawal Khadka was honored with the ‘Artist Award’. On the occasion, Meena Tamang, Shanta Neupane, Khilmaya Sapkota, Bishnu Maya Nepal, Bimala Bishwakarma and Nawaraj Luitel were honoured. The program was attended by Nepali Communist Party leaders Bhanu Bhakta Jaisi, Balaram Baskota, Baldev Chaudhary, Devraj Regmi, August Adhikari, Dr Keshav Khadka and Pasang Moktan
