. KATHMANDU: Nepal Communist Party (NCP) lawmaker Balawati Sharma has urged the government to be serious towards the tragic incidents taking place in the country in recent days.

Speaking in the meeting of the House of Representatives on Tuesday, Sharma expressed concern over the communal tension that has spread in various areas of Madhes following the Devaganj incident in Sunsari.

She said the situation was facing towards control due to the efforts of political parties, civil society, government and related organizations.

“Tragic things are happening in the country one after another,” she said.

The political parties, civil society and government responsible for the communal incident that has spread across Madhes after the incident of Dewaganda incident in Sunsari are being controlled by the conscious initiative of various organizations.

She demanded an investigation into the incident and action against the guilty.

Sharma said that although the people have expected the active presence of the Prime Minister in the time of crisis, the role has not been seen as per that.

“Not only the House of Representatives, but the general public has sought the physical presence of the Prime Minister as a guardian in times of difficulty and sorrow. But the prime minister has been limited to social media and status,” she said.

She also accused the government, which talks about the rule of law, of interfering in the independent judiciary.

She claimed that the government was trying to influence the judiciary and urged the government to pay serious attention to it.

“The government that talks about the rule of law has interfered with the independent judiciary,” she said.
