. Harka Sampang, a member of the Labour and Culture Party, reiterated the demand to remove the controversial statement made by the Prime Minister from the parliament record and urged the government to take the issues raised in the parliament seriously.
Speaking in the meeting of the House of Representatives on Tuesday, MP Sampang demanded that the Prime Minister’s statement that Nepal has encroached on Indian territory should be corrected and removed from the record. He said that the government should listen to the issues raised by the lawmakers in the parliament, understand them and take necessary decisions and implement them.
He said, “We have been protesting here for many days demanding that the Prime Minister’s statement be corrected.
It has not been removed from the record. Do you also think that Nepal has encroached on India’s land and have not removed it? This is what you would have said to us. We come here, we talk. What does it mean to speak? It’s the act of speaking, so it’s just talking? I believe that after speaking, there should be listening, after listening, there should be understanding and consensus. “
Lawmaker Sampang said that the people’s representatives should be allowed to move freely in any part of the country as Nepal is the rule of law. Stating that they were obstructed and beaten up during their visit to Janakpur, he demanded action against the guilty.
He said, “I think this state is consensus. It seems like an advice that we should all do this. We may speak to reach a consensus. How seriously is the government listening to what we are saying? After listening, it should be implemented. I would also like to request this. Now, a parliamentarian has the right to travel freely in his own country, whether he is an MP from the east or the west. While going to Janakpur, whatever kind of group tried to prohibit it, what kind of state is this, there is confusion. Is it a rule of law or a wild state? While we were making statements like ‘don’t come near my house, don’t come here, this is not the way’, on the 5th of July, when we were going to Janakpur, our labor workers were also beaten up by an unknown group. I have also told the Home Minister that this group has done this, in a personal call. Has action been taken or not? Will action be taken or not? I want to ask this question to the Government of Nepal through the House. Stating that he had personally informed the Home Minister about the incident, he demanded an explanation from the government on whether action has been taken against those involved in the incident.
Sampang also objected to the tendency of various groups to refer to themselves as “the army”.
Stating that Nepal Army is the only official army in Nepal, he questioned who gave authority to form any other army group.
He said that the government should not hold talks with such groups and should be prohibited by law.
He also said that the government should be serious about addressing the problem of inundation in the border areas during the rainy season due to the Koshi barrage.
Stating that nationalism could not be demonstrated by submerging one’s territory, he called for finding a long-term solution.
Sampang demanded a factual investigation into the recent incidents, saying the government should be proactive before the incident.
