When a strange disease appeared in his own body and the pain increased, he lost the confidence to live day by day.
He went to many hospitals, tried hundreds of remedies, and took thousands of medicines. In some places, they were even scared that ‘one nerve has burst, now another one can burst’.
When the children and all the family members came to know about this, they started crying.
The more treatment and medication was taken, the pain increased instead of decreasing. The more the disease worsened, the more hope of survival faded.
When the disease worsened, it was difficult to drive. He couldn’t work for a year. After that, he reached Kathmandu Medical College (KMC) Duwakot in an ambulance from a remote place, 40 kilometers away from Jiri. There he met neurointervention specialist Dr. Arun Poudel and his team started treatment.
His first experience there was very strange.
Ghimire, who had suffered many shocks and emotional setbacks in other hospitals, was confident to live after seeing the way the doctors of KMC spoke and the behavior of the nurses.
He said, ‘You’ve come to the right place, nothing will happen, rest assured.’ It happened just as he said,” Ghimire recalls.
According to Dr. Poudel, when he reached the hospital, a vein in Ghimire’s brain burst and it was like a spider web of blood.
He had broken his nerves once before. He used to tremble and faint from time to time due to a brain AVM that causes blood clots in the brain and epilepsy. The doctor then used a new technique to insert wires and pipes through his legs to reach the site of the net, and by performing onyx embolization, the mesh was completely removed.
After the successful treatment, Dr. Poudel said in a language that the patient could understand, “Now that web will not break.”
To this, Ghimire asked again, “Now it won’t break, right?” Dr. Poudel said with a joking smile, reassuring Ghimire, “Now there is no net, what will it break?”
‘The doctor’s treatment and treatment of patients are very good. It is not possible to describe the behavior of the nurses,” said Ghimire, who is preparing to return home after recovering, thanking the doctors and nurses from the bottom of his heart. After recovering, he added, “Now I can live and support my family by driving.” This is the first case of successful treatment of the disease at KMC Duwakot, run by Nepali Congress leader and social worker Dr. Sunil Sharma.
Sharma is the only person in the House of Representatives who did not receive salary and allowances while he was a lawmaker.
He is constantly active in fulfilling his social and humanitarian responsibilities.
