. KATHMANDU — The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has increased the fuel surcharge for domestic flights following a hike of Rs 20 per litre in aviation fuel prices. As per the decision of the NRA, the new fare rate has come into effect from today.
Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) on July 3 had increased the price of aviation fuel to Rs 249 per liter from Rs 229 per liter. In order to adjust the same price increase, the airlines companies have been directed to implement the increased fuel surcharge as per the decision of the Authority on 19th. According to the letter signed by Ramesh Kumar Mahat, manager of the Civil Aviation Department of CAAN, Nepal Airlines Corporation, Buddha Air, Shree Airlines, Yeti Airlines, Summit Air, Tara Air and Sita Air have been asked to fix the new air rate.
The biggest impact has been felt on the Biratnagar-Dhangadhi route, where the ticket price has increased by Rs 1,2
90. The fares on the Nepalgunj-Bhadrapur route have been increased by Rs 1,170 and the Janakpur-Dhangadhi route by Rs 1,100.
Passengers will also have to bear additional burden on flights from Kathmandu.
Tickets on Kathmandu-Dhangadhi route have been increased by Rs 880, Kathmandu-Nepalgunj by Rs 655, Kathmandu-Bhadrapur by Rs 605, Kathmandu-Biratnagar by Rs 480, Kathmandu-Bhairahawa by Rs 410, Kathmandu-Pokhara by Rs 315, Kathmandu-Janakpur by Rs 260 and Kathmandu-Simara by Rs 180.
Similarly, the fare has been increased by Rs
810 on the Pokhara-Bhadrapur route, Rs 685 on the Pokhara-Dhangadhi route and Rs 525 on the Pokhara-Janakpur route. Similarly, the price of mountain flights operating from Kathmandu has been increased by Rs 685.
According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN), the fuel surcharge has been adjusted accordingly after the Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) fixed the price of aviation fuel at Rs 290 per liter.
The new fare has come into effect from today.
