Kathmandu. Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Dr Bikram Timilsina, has inspected the Security Printing Press at Panauti-5 in Kavre. On the occasion, he directed to expedite the printing of driving licenses. He said that the system of printing the license within 24 hours of paying the revenue after passing the trial has been implemented from today.
Minister Timilsina said that the government was committed to ending the problem of not getting license for long and the target has been set to print the remaining licenses by mid-July. “Now the possible work will not be stopped, the service recipients will get service soon. The problem of not getting a license for a long time has now ended,” he said.
During the inspection, he stressed on the need of developing the Security Printing Center as an effective and capable institution. Stating that the works were delayed in the past due to lack of required willpower and management, Timilsina said that the government would move ahead by resolving the problems.
He said that the Ministry has taken initiatives to bring into operation the equipments purchased by spending billions of rupees. He said it was unfortunate that equipment worth around one billion rupees remained unused at the centre.
He directed the Centre to prioritise data security of citizens and provide service-friendly services. Saying the government was working for the service delivery of the people, he said the Ministry was committed to resolving the complaints seen in service delivery.
