Kathmandu. U. S. President Donald Trump has hinted that he will reject Tehran’s latest diplomatic offer aimed at defusing tensions. According to a CNN report, Trump has expressed dissatisfaction with Iran’s proposal.

Iran’s proposal calls for the resumption of maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz.

However, Iran has offered to defer important issues related to its controversial nuclear program for future discussions. Trump expressed his reservations at a high-level briefing with national security aides on Monday, sources said.

Administration officials have expressed concern that opening a key waterway without addressing issues of Iran’s nuclear enrichment and bomb-making uranium stockpile will ease U. S. diplomatic pressure on Iran. However, there is also the risk that the closure of waterways will increase energy prices and make U. S. fuel costs more expensive.

According to CNN, US representatives are also aware of the internal strife within the Iranian government. The US is still unclear who actually has the final decision-making power in Iran. Meanwhile, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has questioned the stability and leadership of Iran’s proposal, even if it is more positive than expected. “Does he really have the authority to act as the supreme leader?” he asked, questioning the religious and political authority of Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei. Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi met Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow on Monday, amid a diplomatic standoff. Araghchi blamed Washington for the failure of Middle East peace talks, saying progress has not been made due to America’s tough stance and high demands.

White House Assistant Press Secretary Olivia Wells confirmed that these were sensitive diplomatic discussions, saying, “As the president said, the United States has all the cards safe.” “We will make a deal that puts the American people first, and we will never allow Iran to build a nuclear weapon,” he said. ’

So far, the peace talks between the US and Iran have not yielded any concrete results, although back-channel diplomacy has continued. (ANI)
