Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: The government has appointed acting directors in various health science academies, hospitals and boards that remained vacant following the promulgation of the ‘Special Provision Ordinance on the Removal of Public Officials Ordinance-2083’. The Ministry of Health and Population today appointed officiating leadership of health science academies, hospitals and health insurance boards with an objective of easing the operation of daily administrative and health services.
According to the Ministry of Health, Prof Dr Samita Panta has been appointed as the Officiating Director of Patan Academy of Health Sciences, Dr Narendra Bikram Gurung as Officiating Director of Pokhara Academy of Health Sciences and Assistant Prof Dr Binamra Bista as Officiating Director of Karnali Academy of Health Sciences.
Associate Prof Dr Indra Limbu has been appointed as the officiating director of Dharan-based BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS) and Joint-Prof Suresh Rasaili as the officiating director of Rapti Academy of Health Sciences, Dang.
Dr Umesh Nepal has been appointed as the acting director of BP Koirala Memorial Hospital Cancer Hospital in Bharatpur and Dr Rabindra Bhakta Timala as acting director of Shahid Gangalal National Heart Centre. Likewise, Shakuntala Prajapati has been appointed as the acting director of the Health Insurance Board.
Minister for
Health and Population Nisha Mehta has appointed acting directors of these health academies, hospitals and boards on a temporary basis so that the day-to-day functioning of these health academies will not be affected. According to him, the government would soon forward the process of selecting the leadership through open competition.
