Kathmandu. The Bharatpur Distribution Centre under the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has blacklisted 281 consumers for not paying electricity bills for a long time. According to the office, these customers have been blacklisted for not paying the arrears despite issuing notices time and again.

Rajendra Kumar Chaudhary, chief of the electricity office, said, “The center has been blacklisting the consumers who do not pay their dues even for 6 months. “The NEA employees have been cutting off the power supply to the customers who do not pay the electricity tariff for two months after reading the electricity meter. In the beginning, the power of the customers who have high electricity tariff arrears is disconnected. Customers who do not pay electricity bills even after 6 months of power disconnection are blacklisted.

Chief Chaudhary said that the blacklisted customers can become customers again by paying the old money like a new customer to become a customer. He also said that the number of people being blacklisted is decreasing as compared to the past years as the citizens have become more aware. There are 75,000 customers at Bharatpur distribution centre so far.

Similarly, a one-door system has been implemented at Bharatpur Electricity Office to ease the service flow. The office has implemented a ‘one-door system’ for the convenience of the customers. According to Rajendra Kumar Chaudhary, chief of the electricity office, service seekers were compelled to visit different tables and fields for a single work. He said that the situation of facing problems for the service recipients has now been removed due to the confusion about which area to go to and which number to reach.

Mayor Chaudhary said that with the implementation of one-door system, arrangements have been made to get necessary information and services from one place. He said that this has saved the time of the service recipients and the work is completed quickly and in a systematic manner.

According to him, various reforms have been initiated to provide simple, fast and effective service to the citizens by creating service-friendly environment.
