Kathmandu. The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Kathmandu has announced the provision of free tourist visa (Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) for Nepali nationals. The Sri Lankan government has decided to provide this new facility to the citizens of 40 countries of the world including Nepal.

According to a press release issued by the Embassy, this provision has come into effect from May 25, 2026. Under the new provision, Nepalese who want to visit Sri Lanka for tourism purposes can get a tourist visa that can be entered twice of 30 days free of cost.

Earlier, there was a provision to pay a certain fee for such visa. The move is expected to further strengthen the tourism ties between the two countries.

Travellers visiting Sri Lanka must obtain an ETA through the official website of Sri Lanka Immigration or by contacting the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Kathmandu before departure.
