agency. France captain Kylian Mbappe suffered a minor knee injury in the quarter-final win over Morocco but is expected to be fit for the FIFA World Cup semi-final against Spain in 2026.
Speaking to reporters ahead of
the semi-finals, France head coach Didier Deschamps said Mbappe would be available to play. “Kylian is fine,” Deschamps told Reuters.
Mbappe did not complete his final training session after suffering an injury in France’s 2-0 win over Morocco. He was substituted at the last minute of the game and his training load was reduced as a precaution. Asked about Mbappe’s training involvement, Deschamps said: “Yes, he trained.
Instead of 15 minutes, he will only be allowed to participate in one practice for 10 minutes,” Reuters reported.
He was partially rested in training but is not expected to miss the long-awaited semi-final against Spain due to the injury.
France will face Spain in the semi-finals. Spain defeated Belgium 2-1 in the quarter-finals to reach the semi-finals.
Spain, who are unbeaten in 36 consecutive matches, will be aiming to secure a place in the final of the 2026 World Cup.
The winner of the semi-finals will advance to the semi-finals on July 19.
Of the last four teams, France have produced the most impressive and balanced performance in the knockout stages.
France defeated Sweden 3-0 in the round of 32 after winning Group I.
