UML has not ruled even one-fourth of the time in 35 years: ‘We can’t be blamed for everything’: Niraj Acharya
Kathmandu. CPN-UML central member and chief of the Publicity and Publication Department, Niraj Acharya, has said that in the last 35 years, the UML has led the government only for 8 years, five months and 11 days. “It is against the facts to say what we have done in the last 35 years targeting the UML,” he said.
Writing on social media Facebook, Acharya has said that the UML is trying to spread confusion among the general public by forcibly creating a false narrative about what you have done in the society in the last 35 years.
According to him, party Chairman KP Sharma Oli had led the government for a total of 1,967 days (5 years, 4 months and 22 days) in his three terms. The then
chairman Manmohan Adhikari led the government for 286 days, Madhav Kumar Nepal for 623 days and Jhalanath Khanal for 205 days. In the last 35 years, the UML has led the government for a total of 3,081 days, which is 8 years, 5 months and 11 days.
For 27 years after 1990, other political parties have governed. The UML has not been in power even for a quarter of 35 years. And all the blame for all the bad work is put on the UML? He asked.
He claimed that although the tenure of the UML-led government was short, historic achievements have been made during this period.
Initiatives such as introduction and expansion of social security for senior citizens, good governance, strong nationalism and construction of big infrastructure projects have been ensured.
Acharya also claimed that the UML-led governments have awakened the faint dreams of the citizens and instilled people’s trust in the state and system.
He urged the government to make a political assessment only on the basis of facts and not to follow illusions and disseminate the truth and criticize it.
