. KATHMANDU: Co-coordinator of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP), Madhav Kumar Nepal, has said that the leftist forces have played an important role in the politics of Nepal.
Addressing a symposium on ‘Role of Leftist Parties in the Present Political Situation’ organized on the occasion of the 48th Pushpalal Memorial Day here today, the Prime Minister said that patriots, democrats, republicans and supporters of the constitution have all hopes on the leftist forces.”Leftist forces have been playing an important role in Nepal’
s politics. Even today, the need for the role of the Left forces is felt everywhere. Patriotic forces are also looking at the Left with optimism. Even the democratic forces, the supporters of the republic and the supporters of the constitution are turning their eyes towards the leftists. They expect the Left to raise their voice in favour of the common people.
Stating that the problem cannot be solved by blaming only others, he pointed out the need for the leftist forces to introspect their own weaknesses.
He said that it should be reviewed in the thinking, policies and activities where we have gone wrong.
“It’s not enough to just blame others,” he said. We need to review where we went wrong. There is a need to introspect where there are flaws in our thoughts, policies, activities, behaviors, lifestyles. Let’s sit down with an open mind and discuss. “
He also said that there is a need to review the policies adopted at different times. He was of the view that Nepal should shun the mentality of bowing down to foreign powers after coming to power, adding that it could raise voice strongly on the issues of national interest.
He said, “It is not necessary to bow down to foreigners as soon as you come to power. You can raise your voice with determination. It does not mean that there will be a war as soon as the voice is raised. When it comes to the welfare of our country, the sea does not break. Stating that Nepal should move ahead by learning from various experiences of the world regarding the conduct of international relations, he said that the tendency to unnecessarily please foreigners has created a situation to accept wrong decisions. Urging all to be aware of foreign interests, he said that good work should be termed as good.
“The world has a lot of experience on how to maintain international relations,” he said.
We can also learn from those experiences and move forward. We have also been involved in pleasing foreigners. As a result, we have also been able to accept some wrongs. Good deeds should be considered good by understanding the interests of foreigners and being cautious about them. ’
