. KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu District Police Range (KDC) has made significant achievements in the fiscal year 2082÷83 in controlling cybercrime, arresting absconding accused and improving police service.
Most of the police offices that were damaged during the Jenji agitation have also been restored. Superintendent of Police (SP) Pawan Bhattarai said that 97 out of 127 units under the District Police Range, Kathmandu, were damaged during the Jenji agitation.÷ He said, “During the Zenji agitation, 97 out of 127 units under the District Police Range, Kathmandu were damaged.
A total of 37 offices, 42 fully damaged and 18 general offices were damaged. We have restored 97 percent of these police stations. According to SP Bhattarai, in the current fiscal year, the police service has been contacted 30,600 times through phone contact to increase the effectiveness of the police service. He also said that arrangements have been made to follow up the complaints regularly through 1,700 SMS.
He said, “Till date, we have made 30,600 phone calls in this fiscal year and have followed up on the work related to the police.”

He said, “We have identified 59 suspicious people through AI cameras, arrested them and brought them under the purview of the law.”
This year we have also used AI drones. According to SP Bhattarai, the police have seized 185 weapons and arrested 53 people on arms charges in the past one year. Similarly, 175 absconding prisoners and 94 detainees have been arrested and handed over to the concerned prisons and police units.

So far, we have extended the remand of 2,276 accused and accused through video conferencing in coordination with the concerned District Administration Office and District Court. According to the police, there has also been a significant increase in the cases of cybercrime.

A total of 2,325 cases of cyber fraud have been registered in the last one year. Immediate response has been initiated into the incident. ’
