Nepal’s views on peace and stability in the region remain unchanged. The success of any diplomatic effort for lasting peace is the top priority at this time. The situation of conflict seems to have resurfaced due to non-compliance of the peace agreement. If the conflict is prolonged, it will have an all-round effect. In the case of Nepal too, security of Nepalis in that area will be challenged and there may be negative impact on employment, fuel, construction and tourism, among other sectors. “
Spokesperson Chhetri said that Vice President Ram Sahaya Prasad Yadav visited Qatar on Asar 12 to pay tribute and condolences on behalf of Nepal on the demise of Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, former Emir of Qatar.
During the visit, Vice President Yadav paid a courtesy call on Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of Qatar and handed over a letter of condolence sent by President Ram Chandra Poudel. Spokesperson Chhetri also shared that the Kolkata-Biratnagar rail cargo service has come into operation from July 17 in the process of bringing goods imported from third countries under the Nepal-India transit agreement. According to him, after the start of cargo transportation through railway, the cost of trade will be reduced, the transportation process will be safe and reliable and goods can be imported in less time.
The government is also confident that the delay fee incurred by Nepali importers due to additional expenses and delays in road transportation will be reduced, the overall transit cost will be significantly reduced and it will contribute to trade facilitation.
The Kolkata Biratnagar Railway has started from July 17, 2083 to transport goods imported from third countries to the Nepalese border via Indian land under the Nepal-India Transit Agreement. Once this railway line is operational, the cost of trade will be reduced, transportation will be safe and reliable and goods will be imported in less time. It is also believed that the delay fee and additional burden of road transportation will be reduced and the overall transit cost will be significantly reduced, which will help in trade facilitation,” he said.
