. The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) parliamentary party has won the election from Rautahat constituency-no. KATHMANDU: Its serious attention has been drawn towards the incident of ink pelting and misbehaving with Ganesh Poudel, a member of the House of Representatives elected from Province 4.
Issuing a press release on Saturday, Chief Whip Kabindra Burlakoti strongly condemned the incident of throwing black ink and misbehaving with lawmaker Poudel while returning from a public meeting on July 21. The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has said that although the right to dissent and protest is protected in a democratic system, violence, abuse or humiliating behavior against people’s representatives is not acceptable in any democratic society.
“Such activities will attack the rule of law, democratic culture and civilized political practice,” the statement reads.
The RSP parliamentary party has demanded the government and the concerned bodies to investigate the incident and take stern action as per the law against those involved in the incident, make public the truth about the incident and ensure security to the people’s representatives so that such incidents do not recur in the future. In the statement, the RSP reiterated its commitment to democratic values, rule of law, non-violent political practice and building a civilized society.
