Dr KC’s health condition critical, shifted to ICU

Dhangadhi. Dr Govinda KC, who started his hunger strike at the Dharamshala of Sri Krishna Temple in Dhangadhi on Thursday, has been admitted to the ICU of Seti Hospital after his health deteriorated.

Jaisi’s sugar level has dropped. “The blood sugar level has dropped to 49,” Jaisi said. Potassium is also reduced. Dr. KC, however, refused to take medicine for sugar, according to Jaisi. According to Jaisi, KC has urged him to use medicines as per his hunger strike as he is currently on a hunger strike. A team led by Dr Gajendra Duwal of Seti Hospital is monitoring Dr KC’s health.

On Friday evening, Minister for Education and Sports Asmit Pokharel had a discussion with Dr KC’s aide Jaishi and had a telephonic conversation with Dr KC at around 11 pm.

During the talks, Minister Pokharel said that the government was committed to addressing the demands. 

In response, Dr KC had stated that his main stance was the operation of a three-hundred-bed hospital at the Shahid Dasharath Chand University of Health Sciences, the initiation of medical studies and the cancellation of the appointments of the vice-chancellor and registrar. Minister Pokharel has pledged to form talks team on these issues and come to Dhangadhi himself if needed, said Dr Jaishi. Locals staged a demonstration outside Krishna Temple in Dhangadhi, Kailali, where Dr KC was on a hunger strike.

Locals had staged a demonstration against Dr KC on Saturday morning, accusing him of conspiring to stop the establishment of Martyr Dasharath Chand University of Health Sciences.
