. A book focused on the framework, possibilities and climate change challenges in Nepal’s water resources sector has been released.
The book was launched by the chief guest and chairman of the Janata Samajbadi Party Nepal, Upendra Yadav and other distinguished guests. The book written by Mahajan Yadav, a water resources expert and politician in Nepali and English, presents the present status of Nepal’s water resources development, policy-level challenges, impact of climate change, water management, energy, irrigation and sustainable development with facts and analysis. Releasing the book, Chief Guest Yadav said that although Nepal is the most water-rich country in the world, it has not been utilized scientifically, planned and in line with the national interest. He urged the government to formulate a long-term national strategy linking water resources not only to energy production but also to agriculture, drinking water, irrigation, industry, environment protection and overall economic transformation.
According to Mahajan Yadav, author Mahajan Yadav said that the objective of the book is to make the policy debate on water resources in Nepal more factual and to provide useful reference material for policy makers, researchers, students and stakeholders.
According to the author, the book presents a detailed analysis of Nepal’s water resources development from the historical background to the future opportunities and challenges, and includes policy and practical measures to be adopted in the era of climate change.
According to the organizers, the book would contribute as a reference material useful in policy formulation, study and research related to water resources sector.
The program was attended by leaders of various political parties, experts in the field of water resources and energy, professors, researchers, government officials, media persons and distinguished personalities from different fields.
