London. President Ram Chandra Poudel has said Nepalis living abroad have an important role to contribute to the prosperity of Nepal.
Vice President of Non-Resident Nepali Association Dr. Talking to a delegation led by Gyanendra Regmi on Friday, the President expressed the belief that the country would move ahead on the path of prosperity soon if the experts living abroad could be effectively mobilized for the development of Nepal.
During the meeting, Dr. On the occasion, Regmi apprised the President about preparations for the ‘global experts’ conference’ to be organised by the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) in Kathmandu next year. He also said that the NRNs are ready to work together with the Government of Nepal.
Similarly, Dr. Regmi shared that discussions were underway with the government regarding the implementation of non-resident Nepali citizenship and continuity of citizenship to the descendants.
President Poudel also pledged to provide necessary support to Nepalis living abroad within the constitutional framework. On the occasion, NRNA Deputy General Secretary Krishna Pokharel drew the attention of the President towards the fact that the full implementation of the constitutional provision related to NRNs has not yet been implemented. Prior to this, the delegation had also held discussions with the Ministers of Law, Foreign Affairs, Communications and Finance about the upcoming Global Experts’ Conference of the Association.
