. KATHMANDU: Minister for Agriculture, Forest and Environment Gita Chaudhary has decided to form a taskforce for reforms in the tea and coffee sector.
Minister Chaudhary made the decision during a meeting with the office-bearers of the National Tea and Coffee Development Board at Kirtipur. During the meeting, extensive discussions were held on policy and institutional reforms required for production, processing, marketing and overall promotion of the tea and coffee sector in Nepal. Minister Chaudhary stressed that the Board should play an effective role in making the tea and coffee sector more competitive, business-oriented and farmer-friendly.
She also directed the task force formed to prepare a modality for restructuring of the National Tea and Coffee Development Board and prepare the future course of action for the tea and coffee sector and to submit its final report within two weeks.
