Concern of Federation of Small Industries Crisis due to Tarai Unrest, Stresses on Peaceful Solution
Kathmandu KATHMANDU: The Federation of Nepal Cottage and Small Industries (FNCSI) has expressed serious concern over the tense situation, social unrest and violent incidents that have developed in several districts of the Tarai of late including Dewangunj-Kaptangunj of Sunsari.
Issuing a press release on Saturday, the FNJ expressed deep condolences to the bereaved families and paid tribute to those who lost their lives in the incident.
He also prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured.
According to the federation, small and cottage industries, which rely on limited capital, local markets and daily transactions, are the most affected by unrest, shutdowns, vandalism and market disruptions.
Such a situation will undermine the confidence of entrepreneurs and have a direct impact on production, supply systems and overall business activities.
The statement reads, “Nepal is a country characterized by diverse ethnicities, languages, religions and cultures and social harmony, tolerance and mutual trust are the bases for national stability and economic prosperity.”
Such incidents will have direct and long-term negative impact on cottage and small industries, local production, trade, tourism, employment and overall economic activities.
The FNJ stresses that any problem or difference should not be resolved through violence, conflict or confrontation but through the constitution, law, dialogue and mutual understanding.
It also urged all the stakeholders to exercise restraint while maintaining social and religious harmony.
Issuing a press release today, the FNJ has urged the government, local administration and security bodies to ensure effective peace and security in the affected areas, ensure security to the life and property of the industry and the general public, and create an environment conducive for the smooth operation of economic activities. Similarly, the FNJ has called on one and all to remain alert against rumour, misleading information and provocative expression spread through social networking sites and other mediums.”The FNCCI is always committed to collaborating with the government, private sector and all stakeholders to create a peaceful, safe and business-friendly environment,” the statement reads.
