Monarchy is inevitable, constitutional monarchy is needed to save the nation: Manisha Koirala
Kathmandu Actress Manisha Koirala has said that constitutional monarchy is necessary for the nationality, sovereignty and stability of Nepal.
Speaking at a joint signing program organized by the Royal Youth Force, Nepal on Saturday, Koirala said that she has learned the concept of constitutional monarchy from BP Koirala. She said, “I have learned from BP Ba that we understand and speak that we need a constitutional monarchy.
In the beginning, his views were inclined towards socialism or communism. But over time, evaluating the situation of the country, geography and the future of the country, he came to the conclusion that the monarchy is very important for Nepal. According to him, the policy of national reconciliation promulgated by BP Koirala had described monarchy and democracy as symbols of democracy rather than contradictory.
‘He said that the king and I are in the same palace. The monarchy is a symbol of democracy. That was important then, it’s even more important now,” she said.
Koirala said that the dream of a prosperous and strong nation has not been fulfilled after the republic and multiparty system.
“We tried to follow the foreign concept by keeping the national element on the sidelines. It didn’t help the country,” she said.
She claimed that weakening the dynasty and institution that unifying Nepal would also weaken the nationality. “Nationalism is weakened if we sideline the organization whose ancestors built this country. This is a very frightening situation for a country with a geography like ours. Monarchy is indispensable if the country remains independent, sovereign and secure at all times,” he said She said.
