. Non-resident Nepali (NRN) Deepmala Dhakal has been crowned Miss Nepal World 2026.
Dhakal’s title is a matter of pride for the Nepalis associated with the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA), which is spread in 90 countries. The title
is not only the result of a beauty pageant but also an achievement carrying the message that one can proudly establish one’s Nepali identity even if one is born or brought up abroad.
This
success seems to have strengthened the campaign to connect the second generation of NRNs with Nepal emotionally, culturally and socially.
Deepmala, who was elected to the post of ‘Second Generation Coordinator’ for the first time from the unity convention of the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) held in April last year, has now won the title of Miss Nepal. This role, which was created with the aim of connecting youths of Nepali origin born and raised abroad with Nepal, has made his victory even more meaningful.
NRNA vice-president Rojina Pradhan Rai said that Dhakal’s crowning is a historic achievement.
Deepmala, who was born and brought up in Hong Kong, has proved her commitment to Nepali language, culture and identity not only in words but also in deeds. NRNA spokesperson Somnath Sapkota has praised Dhakal’s achievement through a press release.
This achievement is not only a personal achievement but also a symbol of inspiration, confidence and pride of Nepali identity for the Non-Resident Nepali community around the world, especially the second generation Nepali youths,” the statement reads. We believe this success will inspire the second generation of Nepalis around the world to be more strongly connected with their language, culture, values, and motherland.”
She is a black belt player of taekwondo, a marathon runner and a graduate in economics.
She has chosen Nepal to accept new challenges despite having a safe and lucrative career as an Investment Analyst at Blackrock, the world’s leading investment management company.
The NRNA has also extended best wishes to Dhakal to participate in the prestigious Miss World pageant in the coming days.

In 1994, her mother Roshani Kharel became the first Miss Nepal pageant.
Deepmala, who made it to the last six from 24 contestants in the Miss Nepal finale, won the hearts of the judges with her ability, confidence and clear presentation.
