. Acting Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, Sunita Dangol, said that the success of the training could not be evaluated immediately and the real achievement of the training would be seen only if the participants linked the skills they learned with their profession and income.

She said this while addressing the concluding ceremony of the 30-day ‘Photography and Photo÷Video Journalism Training’ organized by Film Development Board in collaboration with Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) from June 5 to July 5. Stating that the metropolis has been conducting various skill-oriented trainings related to employment and income enhancement, Dangol stressed that the training should be put into practical use rather than limited to learning.

“This one-month training has come to an end,” she said. How successful it has been is not measured today or tomorrow. This is measured by how much you use what you have learned in your profession. The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) conducted the training as part of a programme related to employment and income enhancement. The metropolis has been providing various income-generating trainings. But these trainings should not be just for training. After receiving the training, the trainees should use it in their lives and connect it with income. It should be pursued commercially, not just as a hobby. Dangol said that Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has not taken film as a destination but as a medium to promote art, culture and heritage.

She said, “If the Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) does the work of films, then the question can also be raised as to what work the Film Development Board does.”

But for Kathmandu Metropolitan City, film is not a destination, it is a medium. For us, film is a medium to show, blossom and promote the various arts, cultures, music, articles and many stories within us. Speaking at the ceremony, Dinesh DC, Chairman of Film Development Board, said that the Board is always ready to conduct such skill-oriented training in collaboration with Kathmandu Metropolitan City. He said that the film industry belongs to everyone and is ready to work as a bridge.

“The Film Development Board is ready to conduct many such trainings in collaboration with the Kathmandu Metropolitan City,” he said.

The film industry is ours. We are always ready to act as a bridge । ‘
