. President of the National Democratic Disabled Association, the sister organization of the Nepali Congress, Madhav Prasad Chamlagain, has expressed serious concern over the inclusion of his name in the 551-member main organizing committee of the national gathering scheduled to be held from August 12.
In the appeal issued on Thursday, Chairman Chamlagain clarified that he had no involvement in the gathering and would not participate in the activities that weakened the party’s legal structure and divisive activities. He said that the fact that he has been named as the president of the National Democratic Disabled Association cannot be accepted. In the appeal, he stressed that there could be dissatisfaction within the party but its solution should be sought through the statute, procedure and organizational process. He argues that there can be no parallel or illegal assembly as an alternative to the legal leadership and institutional structure of the Nepali Congress. Saying that the general convention is the democratic way to change the leadership, Chamlagain urged the disgruntled leaders to take the leadership test in the 15th general convention.
He called on the people to participate in open democratic competition by abandoning parallel activities, attempts to create confusion and politics of division.
He has urged the party cadres to refrain from activities that weaken the party as it is an institution made up of the sacrifice and public trust of millions of party cadres.
He also appealed to the members of the National Democratic Disabled Association and the Nepali Congress cadres to stand firmly in favor of the legal leadership and not to participate in such activities.
Chamlagain has urged all sides to work for building a united and timely NC by resolving the differences in the party through dialogue, collaboration and competition as per the statute.
