Ramechhap. Fikkal rural municipality-2 in Sindhuli district has been identified as the passengers of a car that plunged into the Sunkoshi River near Nawalpurghat of Fikkal rural municipality-2 in Sindhuli district this morning.
According to the Sindhuli Police, the accident took place when a passenger bus (Ba.08-001 Kha 0144) en route to Okhaldhunga from Kathmandu hit a car used by the Department of Roads, Mechanical Office, Mulkot, Mid-Hill Highway en route to Khurkot from Khotang at around 11.45 am today.
The car fell some 50 feet down into the Sunkoshi River after the accident, police said.
Car driver Dil Kumar Lama, 39, of Sindhupalchowk, excavator driver Ganesh Thapa, 27÷28, of Golanjor Rural Municipality-1, Sindhuli and two others whose names, surnames and knowings are not known, police said. According to the police, the car involved in the accident was linked to the Mechanical Office of the Department of Roads, Mulkot, Mid-Hill Highway.
Earlier, the car driver Til Kumar Lama was identified as a contractor associated with the Mid-Hill Highway Construction Project. Police said further investigation into the case is underway.
The driver of the bus, Hem Bahadur Tamang, 26, of Fikkal Rural Municipality-6 was taken under control following the accident, according to Sindhuli Police. Police, Armed Police Force and other rescue teams have been mobilized at the incident site and search and rescue operation has been intensified.
Further details about the incident are awaited, police said.
