Kathmandu. Nepal Teachers’ Federation has threatened to launch protest from August. Accusing the government of being ilpathetic and indifferent to the teachers’ demands, the Federation has warned of launching protest from August.
A meeting of the National Council of the Federation held on Sunday and Monday has given the authority to determine the date, form and programme of the agitation to the Extended Office Meeting.
The Council concluded that the government had not implemented the agreements made in the past and concluded that the agitation was inevitable. The Federation has also demanded immediate issuance of the Pioneering School Education Act as per the agreement, providing incentive allowance to teachers from mid-July and scrapping the impractical transfer system.
The federation has also stressed on ensuring minimum wages for temporary, relief, wages, institutional, ECD teachers and school staff.
Likewise, the committee has demanded that the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology should immediately announce the salary scale by making its official view public immediately to remove confusion regarding the incentive allowance.
The Federation has warned that it would launch nationwide protest programmes from August if the government did not pay heed to their genuine demands. It also urged the government to take immediate and effective steps to resolve the problems in the education sector.
