. The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) has discussed the complaints received at the committee.
During the discussion, Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) lawmaker Khagendra Sunar demanded an investigation into the government’s failure to utilize the government investment in a hostel for Dalit students in Birendranagar of Surkhet. He claimed that although the government has invested millions to crores of rupees in the construction of the hostel, the structure is still lying unused.
According to him, the hostel is still in ruins and the targeted community has not been able to benefit from it.
He said, “The government had invested in a hostel behind Birendranagar Bus Park in Surkhet with the intention of providing accommodation for students from the Dalit community.
But millions of rupees invested in that hostel have been wasted. The structure is still in ruins. Nothing has been accomplished. Crores of rupees of the state have been lost in the name of children, Dalits, women and senior citizens. The Secretary is also present here, and he is also aware of this. But once the matter comes to the Public Accounts Committee, the committee should not sprinkle gold and send it clean. Necessary process should be taken immediately in this regard. Effective action should be taken on programs related to public welfare. Lawmaker Sunar blamed huge misuse of state budget in the programmes and structures run in the name of children, Dalits, women and senior citizens.
Stating that the secretaries of the ministries concerned were present in the meeting, he expressed the view that the committee should not settle the complaints in a general manner or relieve them of responsibility.
He urged the government to immediately forward necessary process on such issues related to public interest ।
