Committee appeals not to spread confusion about the agreement reached between the microfinance victims and the government

. Maniram Gyawali-led Struggle Committee Against Microfinance and Financial Exploitation Nepal has refuted the false propaganda against the five-point agreement reached with the government on July 30.

Organizing a press conference in Kathmandu on Tuesday, the committee said that its serious attention has been drawn to the allegation levelled against its chairman Maniram Gyawali. Patron of the committee, August Adhikari, claimed that the agreement reached between the government of Nepal and them after five years of continuous struggle was positive. Adhikari said that no one should be confused as it was said that the report prepared by the government on July 8 on microfinance and the victims would be implemented and the work order would be prepared on the basis of it.

“Those who fled the agitation are conspiring against the 60 lakh victims through microfinance institutions, we are confident that the Balen government will implement the agreement soon,” the official said.

Accusing some people of trying to sabotage their movement, the officer said, “The thief has a loud voice.” Mani Prasad Chaulagain, vice-chairperson of the committee and a member of the talk team, said that the media’s rhetoric against the agreement immediately after they reached an agreement was a “restlessness of those who eat the names of the victims”.

Chaulagain claimed that he himself was in talks with the government and was aware of everything and there was no fault in it.

Chaulagain also said that the allegations levelled against Gyawali are false.

Vice-chairpersons of the committee Yubaraj Rasaili, Arjun BK and Datta Tharu refuted the allegations levelled against Gyawali. Committee secretary Luja Rai said that the slogan ‘Let’s Save and Move Forward, Let’s Unite for Stability, Good Governance and Prosperity’ will be fulfilled. Joint Secretaries Silam Yadav and Dilip Magar warned of stern agitation if the government did not implement the agreement. Victims Priya KC and Sita BK argued that no one can blame Maniram Gyawali for fighting for millions of sisters and also because of which he is sick.
