. CPN-UML lawmaker Guru Prasad Baral drew the attention of the government towards the alleged border encroachment by the Indian side at Susta and demanded the government to take diplomatic initiative immediately.
Speaking in the meeting of the House of Representatives on Tuesday, Baral claimed that the Indian Army has entered the civil uniform and the problem has arisen again in the land of Susta and the government should take serious steps in this regard.
‘Today again the Indian Army has entered the country wearing civil dress. And there are wounds and bruises on the ground again. The residents of Susta have been forced to protest and today the country is again in the throes of border encroachment. Mr. Prime Minister, how much time should this parliament spend to realize its sensitivity? How long should the hon. It’s a matter of great shame. I want to draw the attention of the Prime Minister to play his role towards the country and move ahead in this regard,” he said.
Baral also questioned the government’
s role in the incident that took place in Sunsari. Stating that three youths lost their lives due to failure to control a minor dispute in time, he said that religious harmony and social peace have been challenged.
He said that although the situation has returned to normal due to the efforts made by the political parties, religious leaders and citizens, the pain caused by the incident still remains.
He said that although efforts were made to meet the families of the deceased and provide relief, they could not win the hearts of the victims.
He said, “The country had to bear the sacrifice of three promising youths today due to the failure to maintain immediate and reliable peace and order in the wake of the incident that took place in Sunsari.”
If peace and order could have been maintained immediately after the simple scuffle that took place that night, such a tragic situation would not have happened today. At present, religious harmony is in trouble in the country and peace and tranquillity have been disturbed among the people. Due to the efforts of many political parties, religious leaders, and people’s goodwill, this situation has now been felt towards normalization, but the internal burns, the wounds, the injured and the patients who are suffering in the hospital have not been able to come out of this situation. The efforts made by the Home Minister to meet the families of the deceased have not won their hearts. Lawmaker Baral demanded the formation of a judicial committee to investigate the Sunsari incident. He said that although financial compensation could be made for the burnt houses, vehicles and shops, it would take a long time to compensate for the social and emotional damage.
He also objected to the government’s approach while investigating an industrialist family in Biratnagar.
He claimed that the investigation process carried out in the early hours of the morning by cordoning off the reputed houses that have been contributing to industry, education and business for a long time has terrified the business sector.
Lawmaker Baral blamed the increasing price in the country, problems in gas supply and lack of effective implementation of the rule of law and constitutional process. He said that the Home Minister and the Prime Minister should take moral responsibility for the death of the people killed in the Sunsari incident.
He urged the government to find a long-term solution by forming a judicial commission under the leadership of former justices to find out the truth behind the incident.
