Kathmandu. Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle held discussions with the ministers and secretaries of the line ministries for budget preparation. Finance Minister Wagle held a meeting at the Ministry of Finance on Monday to discuss the budget preparation for the upcoming fiscal year 2083/84 BS.
Finance Secretary Dr. Ghanashyam Upadhyay said that the Ministry of Finance has decided to facilitate the transfer of funds from the thematic ministries. He also briefed the participants about the source of the multi-year contract, including the change in the deadline of the agreement.
Joint Secretary of the Budget and Program Division, Dr. On the occasion, Suman Dahal gave a brief presentation on the current status of budget preparation for the coming fiscal year. The ministers of the line ministries raised the issues related to the budget and programmes of their respective ministries.
The Finance Minister said that the upcoming budget would test all of us in the context of Nepal’s public finances being in a crisis.
He said it was challenging to prepare the budget to address the aspirations of the citizens at a time when the state’s mandatory liability is Rs 1330 billion and revenue is Rs 1180 billion.
Also present on the occasion were Vice-Chairman and Member of the National Planning Commission and Administration and Good Governance Advisor to the Prime Minister, Sudip Dhakal.
