Kathmandu. The work permit for the Middle Eastern region has been stalled. The ban on labour permits has been temporarily lifted due to tensions in the Middle East.

The Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security through a ministerial decision decided to resume all types of work permit for workers going to Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman, Yemen, Jordan, Lebanon, Turkey and Israel, among others.

Earlier, as per the decision taken by the minister on Falgun 17, 2082, the labour permit to be given through individual, institutionalization and legalization in these countries was temporarily suspended.

As per the new decision, the labour permit has now been opened for all these countries and in the case of Iraq, the decision of the Council of Ministers of the Government of Nepal on December 25, 2082 will remain as it is.

Earlier, the government had made provision for issuing work permit to Nepali citizens who have gone to Iraq for foreign employment and have obtained official visa if they submit the application along with the original and photocopy of the said application while coming to Nepal.

The Ministry has informed all bodies and stakeholders about the decision and urged them to forward the necessary process.
