Kathmandu. The removal of the houses built on government land in front of the High Court Tulsipur-Butwal Bench at Butwal Sub-Metropolitan City-4 has begun. After the dismissal of the government land registered in the name of the then Lumbini Zonal Magistrate’s Office, the High Court Tulsipur-Butwal Bench was given the right to occupy as per the decision of the government.
The demolition of the houses constructed in about 2 bigha 5 kattha and 14 dhur area of the erstwhile plot number 396 (currently plot number 7, 8, 12, 61, 13 and 40 of the erstwhile Ward No. 6 is currently under Ward No. 4).
The Butwal Sub-Metropolitan City had issued a notice through miking on Saturday evening directing the removal of structures built on government land.
Narishwor Sharma Poudel, chairperson of Ward No. 4, said that investigation is underway to find out whether the structures of Butwal Bar Association, Province Chief’s Office and other organizations would fall under the same category.
Twelve years ago, an attempt was made to vacate the land. Most of the huts built in the area are in operation as tea shops and restaurants.
