Kathmandu. Finance Minister Dr. KATHMANDU: Swarnim Wagle has said that the incumbent government is active to break the institutional occupation and policy setting. He said that he is now reading the reports of exploitation and looting in the past.
According to him, the government is moving forward to end the political and institutional takeover of the elite, policy settings, and the unholy relationship between businessmen and corrupt politicians. Speaking at a program organized in the capital, he said that the present government is trying to signal a new beginning. Wagle also called on the private sector not to encourage mistakes that have been made in the past. He also warned against trying to protect the perpetrators.
Finance Minister Wagle said that some voices in the private sector have suspected that the government is trying to be harsh, but it is not so. According to him, the RSP government is “cleaning up the garbage”. He said that it was being done carefully with a sense of conscience. Recalling the year of blooming this year, Wagle said that this process could be painful for some. Stating that the entrepreneurs have been facing a lot of problems due to the laws in Nepal, he said the government was moving ahead on the path of reforming such laws and regulations.
Finance Minister Wagle said the private sector should flourish on the foundation of honesty. Stating that Prime Minister Balendra Sah ‘Balen’ was fully committed to good governance, he served Balen’s term in Kathmandu Metropolitan City for the last four years. Wagle said that even when Balen was in the metropolis, he had not heard of a single scam in his name till date. Wagle said that this standard will be set during the tenure of the present government.
On the occasion, Wagle said the incumbent government was committed to private sector-friendly policy and investment environment. According to him, investment will be increased in the country by attracting expatriate, foreign and domestic investors. Finance Minister Wagle said that the private sector would see a clear model towards liberal economy in the upcoming budget. According to him, the model will encourage investment. Private property will be protected. It will make the tax burden less cumbersome.
