Kathmandu. Non-Resident Nepalis Association (NRNA) central vice-chair Rabin Bajracharya has stressed the need for the government to create conducive environment for the Non-Resident Nepalis to invest in the share market.

Speaking at a press conference organized on Sunday, he said that even small investments made by Nepalis living abroad would contribute a lot to Nepal’s economy. “I am ready to invest billions of rupees, but the government should open the share market to Nepalis,” he said. Even if Nepalese around the world spend only one to two thousand rupees of their earnings to buy shares here, that amount can reach billions. Therefore, the stock market should be opened not only to bring in big investments. ’

Claiming that Nepal’s stock market is under the control of a limited number of people, Bajracharya said that the economy would expand if big investment could be brought in from outside.

He also expressed dissatisfaction over the preliminary draft brought by the government. According to him, the provision allowing one house to own one house and paying half tax while selling ancestral property has created doubts on the government.
