Kathmandu. Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) lawmaker Khusbu Oli has demanded a concrete plan from the government to control illegal labour immigration, human smuggling in the name of visit visa and structural exploitation in the foreign employment system. In a meeting of the House of Representatives on Sunday, she asked the Prime Minister to clarify the government’s views on the misuse of visit visa, problems of Nepalis going abroad for work and reforms in labour system.
Responding to a question, Prime Minister Balen Shah said that strict instructions have been issued to stop the misuse of visit visa. “The misuse of visit visa has been going on since the past. Strict instructions have been given to the ministry, airports and related departments to control this. ’
According to the Prime Minister, there is also an alternative process of going abroad for a job interview on a visit visa and later converting it into a working visa.
“Those who want to work on a visit visa can convert to a working visa,” he said. The Ministry of Labor has been working to manage it by incorporating various sectors. ’
Meanwhile, in his response to a query about the electricity infrastructures, the Prime Minister said that the country would not immediately be able to go towards full electric age.
“We’re not going to be able to go into the electric age anytime soon. In fact, if every kitchen in the country were to be cooked with electricity right now, all the transformer substations in the country would explode. It doesn’t have the capacity right now. We need money to develop that capacity,” he said, adding, “The current structure cannot sustain transformers and substations while using electric stoves in all houses.” This requires a huge investment. ’
According to him, transformers, wires and substations would be upgraded for the improvement of electricity infrastructure. He said that tax has been proposed to be imposed on the use of electricity above 50 units to raise resources.
