Kathmandu. Home Minister Sudhan Gurung has said that a probe committee has been formed to investigate the death of Shree Krishna Bishwakarma in police custody in Sindhuli.

Responding to a query by National Assembly member Bhuwan Bahadur Sunar in today’s meeting, he said the report states that the police did not cause any physical or mental torture while in custody.

He also informed that the Dalit cell has been implemented in the Nepal Police.

Home Minister Gurung said that Bishwakarma was not beaten on the basis of the report.

He said that the Ministry’s attention has been drawn on this issue and it will be informed again when new issues are introduced. In the meeting, National Assembly member Sunar asked about the caste-based discrimination. He drew the attention of Minister Gurung towards the fact that murders and beatings were taking place due to inter-caste marriages.

Lawmaker Sunar had inquired how he could have committed suicide by going above seven feet in the custody without a table and chair.

In the meeting, Chairman Narayan Prasad Dahal read out a letter received from the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers.
