Government wants to collaborate with UNDP as per changing needs: Finance Minister Wagle
Kathmandu. Finance Minister Dr. KATHMANDU: Dr Swarnim Wagle has said the government wants to further strengthen development cooperation with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) as per the changing national priorities and needs.
In his address to a program organized on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the establishment of Nepal-UNDP cooperation in Kathmandu today, he expressed gratitude to UNDP for its continuous cooperation with Nepal in various development sectors for the past 60 years.

DP’s contribution to poverty alleviation, reduction of inequalities, sustainable development, education and health is unforgettable, he said.
“Thank you very much for your contribution to Nepal’s development efforts.
I wish that this partnership which is 60 years old today would continue for the next 100 years. He was of the view that development cooperation under the umbrella of the United Nations should be understood not only from the point of view of economic investment but also as an important means of cross-country coordination, knowledge exchange and long-term partnership.
Appreciating UNDP’s role in environmental protection, strengthening democracy, empowering youth, and digital transformation in Nepal, he stressed the need to make the collaboration more effective in the days ahead as per the changing development challenges and needs. Recalling that he had spent a significant period of his professional life at UNDP, he described his association with the organization as a special experience.
On the occasion, Finance Minister Wagle also launched a photo book ’60 Years of Sahayatra’ with glimpses of the major works, achievements and collaborations carried out by UNDP in Nepal in the past 60 years.
