. The 456-MW Upper Tamakoshi Hydropower Station will carry out emergency flushing of the reservoir from 8:00 am to 7:00 pm today. According to the centre, the water level in the Tamakoshi River fluctuates continuously as the reservoir gates are opened and closed time and again during flushing.
According to the center, this will affect the downstream area of the Tamakoshi dam up to the confluence of the Sunkoshi River via Lamabgar, Chhetchet, Gongar, Jagat, Tunitar, Jamune, Bhorle, Singati, New Bridge, Kirne, Khimti. The Centre has urged the general public not to do fishing, bathing, swimming, washing clothes, transporting livestock, excavation of pebbles and sand and allowing vehicles to cross the river during the period. Similarly, extreme
precaution has been requested if there is a need to perform the cremation and other religious rites on the river bank. The Upper Tamakoshi Hydropower Centre has urged the locals residing near the river to adopt high alertness and to be away from risky activities as the water level in the river may rise in abruptly.
