Sarlahi. Eight persons were injured when a truck driven by drunk hit two passenger buses at Chandrapur Municipality-4 in Rautahat district on Sunday morning.
According to the police, the truck (M. P.02-001 Ka 0867) en route to Garuda from Janakpur hit the bus (Ba.03-001 Kha 5284) and Ba. P.03-001 Kha 3660 en route to Dharan from Kathmandu.
The bus (Ba 03-001 Kha 3660) overturned on the road after the accident.
The injured have been identified as truck helper Lal Bahadur Tamang, 60, of Dhanushadham municipality-9, bus driver Bikash Poudel, 43, of Hetauda sub-metropolis of Makwanpur and Pradeep Khadka, 45, of Sunsari.
Similarly, the injured have been identified as Nirmala Devi Gupta, 57, of Inaruwa municipality-2, Ritu Barna Karki, 46, of Sundarharaincha-5, Haraita, Meghraj Karki, 44, of the same locality, Safal Magar, 32, of Itahari Sub-Metropolitan City, Sunsari and Dilmaya Karki, 54, of Sundarharaincha-5, Haraita of Morang.
According to police, most of the injured are undergoing treatment at Nobel Hospital in Biratnagar.
Safal Magar, who was taken to Simanta Highway Hospital in Chapur for initial treatment, left the hospital on his own, police said.
Police have arrested the truck driver Lal Bahadur Magar, 35, of Bardibas Municipality of Mahottari district for driving under the influence of alcohol.
Further investigation into the case is underway, police said.
