No provincial assembly should be without opposition: Bishwa Prakash Sharma

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) Vice President Bishwa Prakash Sharma has said that there are some problems among the ruling parties regarding the operation of the provincial government.
Speaking at a press conference organized on the occasion of BP Memorial Day here today, he said that internal dialogue and practice was going on rather than making public comment on the condition of the provincial governments.
He also made it clear that the Nepali Congress was ready to remain in the opposition if needed.
“There are some problems with the provincial governments,” he said.
Some problems have arisen among the parties in the government. Now, instead of commenting much publicly on how the provincial governments run or how new ones are formed, there are exercises and dialogues happening internally. “
Sharma said that no provincial assembly should be without opposition and stressed the need to protect the main spirit of the constitution.
He said, “No provincial assembly should be without opposition.
The parties that played an important role in drafting the present constitution cannot disturb the essence of the constitution at a time when the discussion on constitution amendment is also going on in today’s adverse situation. One of the problems that arises in the context of provincial governments is related to that. If necessary, the Congress is ready to sit in the opposition. But it does not believe that all parties should be in the same government going beyond the people’s mandate. Meanwhile, various programmes would be organized throughout the country to mark the 44th memorial day of popular leader BP Koirala, which will be observed on July 21, he added.
He said, “The 44th death anniversary of BP Koirala is on July 21.
Various programs are being organized across the country especially on July 6 and 7 on the occasion of this day. In this connection, a central program is being organized in Kathmandu on July 6 with the main theme ‘Let’s Mobilize to Save Climate Awareness’. A program related to this will also be held on July 7. Sharma also clarified the background of linking BP Koirala’s memorial day with climate awareness. According to him, the decision to nationalize forest during BP Koirala’s tenure as prime minister has made forest conservation possible.
He said, “The decision to nationalize the forest was taken when BP Koirala was the prime minister.
Today, whatever forest is left in Nepal, it has become possible due to the foresight of BP and then the transfer of forest to the community after the change in 2046 BS. ’
