The Karnali Province Parliamentary Party of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) has decided to vote in favour of the no-confidence motion registered against the government led by Chief Minister Yamlal Kandel. A meeting of the Karnali Province Parliamentary Party of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) held this morning took the decision in this regard, party chief whip Krishna Bahadur GC said.
According to Chief Whip GC, it has been unanimously decided to vote in favor of the no-confidence motion registered at the Provincial Assembly Secretariat on July 14, continuing the collaboration with the Nepali Congress.
A meeting of the Nepali Congress Parliamentary Party on Wednesday had decided to vote in favour of the no-confidence motion against the Chief Minister.
A no-confidence motion has been registered against Chief Minister Kandel at the Karnali Province Assembly on August 14 with the signatures of 16 Karnali Province Assembly members including 11 lawmakers from the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) and five from the Nepali Congress.
In the 40-member Karnali Province Assembly, there are 15 members from the Nepali Congress, 14 from the NCP, 10 from the UML and the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP).
The Nepali Congress (NC) had registered a no-confidence motion in the Provincial Assembly with an agreement to share power with the CPN, saying that the Chief Minister had withdrawn from the agreement to run Alopal’s government.
As per the agreement, Nepali Congress parliamentary party leader Jeevan Bahadur Shahi has been nominated for the post of Chief Minister. Chief Minister Kandel will be relieved of his post if the no-confidence motion registered in the Provincial Assembly is endorsed by the Parliament.
Yamlal Kandel of the CPN-UML is leading the government in Karnali Province with the support of the Nepali Congress.
The game of a new alliance was started in Karnali after the Nepali Congress ministers resigned en masse last week. Ghanashyam Bhandari has resigned from the post of Minister for Social Development and Suresh Adhikari as Minister for Industry, Tourism, Forest and Environment, Bijaya Budha as Minister for Water Resources and Energy Development and Rajiv Bikram Shah as Minister for Economic Affairs and Planning.
