Ramechhap. The 48th memorial day of Pushpa Lal Shrestha, one of the founding general-generals of the Communist Party of Nepal, was observed at Bhangeri of Ramechhap district.
According to CPN-UML Ramechhap chapter secretary Prakash Kumar Karki, the memorial day was marked by offering wreaths at the statues of martyr Gangalal and NCP founding general secretary Pushpalal.
The program was presided over by Hotraj Dhakal, Acting Chairman of CPN-UML Ramechhap and Chief Guest of the program was CPN-UML Central Member and Ramechhap District In-charge Madhav Dhungel.
Speaking at the program, Dhungel said that Pushpalal was a visionary leader.
He recalled that Nepal got multi-party and republic as a result of Pushpalal’s vision that communists and Nepali Congress should come together for the establishment of democracy in Nepal. He said that although Pushpalal was called a traitor instead of the leftist-democratic alliance, his view proved to be true over time.
Dhungel said that the time has come for the leftist forces to stand together again in Nepal and the leftists are being attacked through social media due to the popularity of the leftists.
Now again, UML believes that the leftist and democratic forces and the constitution-making forces should unite. “We will see who falls into the trap of domestic and foreign powers, but the CPN-UML is adamant that all should be taken along,” said Dhungel.
He said that the UML is ready to transform wherever it needs to be transformed.
He made it clear that the UML was ready to make any sacrifices to protect the country and take forward the journey of development and prosperity.
The program was attended by UML provincial committee leaders, people’s representatives, district committee leaders, people’s organization leaders, municipal, village and ward committee leaders.
