Govt directs people not to sell bakery shirts below 10 kg

Kathmandu. KATHMANDU: The Department of Food Technology and Quality Control has directed the industries not to produce, package and sell bakery certifying below 10 kg weight. According to the notice issued by the department, as per the decision of 2083÷01÷14, the industries producing and distributing bakery shirting will no longer be allowed to produce and sell in packs weighing less than 10 kg.

Bakery shirts currently sold in the market weighing less than 10 kg should be recalled within 15 days from the date of publication of the notice. In addition, the notice states that information in this regard should be compulsorily given to the departmental offices of the concerned area.

The department has warned that action will be taken against the industries violating this directive as per the Food Hygiene and Quality Act, 2081.

The Department under the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development has stated that such a system has been implemented to maintain the food quality and to keep the health safety of the consumers.
